Over the course of the program, 20 students explored the area around Shabolovka. This pavilion became a bright finale to the project — built in two weeks next to the district's main modernist landmark, Danilovsky Market.
The pavilion's forms are deliberately simple: a huge 7-meter-diameter sphere on a frame. Inside is a space for lectures and workshops; outside, a cladding made of fanny-pack fabric (anyone who lived through the 1990s will get it). The project was highly praised by Felix Novikov, the renowned Soviet architect and modernism historian, and co-author of Danilovsky Market.
